Kate Authier is the proud Principal of Wilemon STEAM Academy. Mrs. Authier grew up in Corsicana, Texas, and graduated from Corsicana High School. She continued her education at Texas A&M University, and graduated as a proud Aggie! Mrs. Authier has taught 5th, 7th, and 8th grades. She also served as the Assistant Principal at Northside Elementary for four years. Mrs. Authier is passionate about STEAM education, is National Institute of STEM Education Certified, and has attended numerous conferences and training's to further her knowledge of STEAM learning. She is married to her husband Matt, and together they have three boys - Anderson, Brooks, and Campbell. Mrs. Authier is proud to serve as the Principal of Wilemon STEAM Academy!

The Future Is Bright At Wilemon!

Mrs. Nelson has over 15 years of experience as an educator, 13 of those being here in Waxahachie ISD.  Since she was an elementary student herself, she dreamed of being a teacher. She began her career in the role of a paraprofessional in 2006 and then taught, in no particular order, pre-k, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and reading intervention before she moved into the role of assistant principal.  She loved serving her students and community so much, she desired to serve a school in a higher capacity. 

Waxahachie is her hometown and she absolutely loves serving in the community she grew up in.  She and her husband, Grant Nelson, are both graduates of Waxahachie High School.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science of Education from Texas A&M-Commerce and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas-Dallas.  Mrs. Nelson is National Institute of STEM Education Certified and has a passion for STEM education, which gives her such excitement and great pride in paving the way for students to learn and grow in such an effective way.

Mr. and Mrs. Nelson have a son, Brigg, and a daughter, Mila, both students of Waxahachie ISD. Mrs. Nelson is thrilled and honored to get to serve Wilemon STEAM Academy under an amazing principal, such a great team!

Mrs. Lavender is a native Texan. She grew up in El Paso and Sachse, Texas. Mrs. Lavender has known that she wanted to be a teacher since fifth grade. For the past twenty-four years, Mrs. Lavender has been teaching and counseling students. She enjoys guiding, motivating, and supporting students and families. Mrs. Lavender is married and has two sons. She is very happy to be the counselor at Wilemon STEAM Academy, and has loved getting to know all of the students and families!
