Advanced Placement (AP)
The College Board's Advanced Placement Program enriches the secondary school experience of students ready to apply themselves to challenging courses. Students choosing to enroll in advanced courses benefit from higher cognitive learning experiences that prepare them for the post-secondary world. At the end of each AP course, students are eligible to take an AP test that may result in college credit. The actual credit is awarded at university and college discretion. Please be sure to communicate with colleges and universities regarding which AP test scores are accepted.
Please note that although students are encouraged to sit for the AP exam, it is not a requirement for enrollment. The district recognizes the value of the AP learning experience regardless of the possibility of college credit.
- The student AP exam fee will be on a sliding scale.
- 1 Exam - $90; 2 Exams - $70; 3 Exams - $50; 4th & 5th Exams - $40
- Students qualifying for free/reduced lunch: 1 Exam - $60; 2 Exams - $50; 3 Exams - $40; 4th & 5th Exams - $30

- Students register and pay for the AP exam in Total Registration.

Pre-College and College Assessments
It is the desire of WISD for all students to attend post-secondary training regardless of career aspirations. WISD will pay for any sophomore or junior who enrolls in PSAT and for sophomores wanting to take the Pre-ACT. Additionally, WISD will pay for one of either the ACT or the SAT in the student's junior or senior year. It is the student's responsibility to submit a reimbursement form along with proof of payment and exam results. Any subsequent tests will be the responsibility of the student.
Pre-ACTPre-ACT simulates the ACT testing experience within a shorter test window on all four ACT test subjects: English, math, reading, and science. Results help predict future success on the ACT test, and provide both current achievement and projected future ACT scores on the familiar 1-36 ACT score scale. All sophomore students registered to take the PSAT will automatically be enrolled to take the Pre-ACT. This test will be administered on a scheduled school day.- WISD will pay for PSAT/NMST exams for 10th-grade students who register in Total Registration.

Testing Guidelines & Protocols
SAT
There are updated health and safety guidelines for weekend SAT administrations during the 2021-22 school year. Due to health organization guidelines announced on July 27, the College Board is now requiring all students and staff to wear a mask or protective face covering for the duration of their administration, regardless of vaccination status. The College Board will also notify students to bring a mask for test day. While mask requirements have changed due to the recent guidance, students will be 3 feet apart, unless local guidelines are more stringent. Students and staff will also be required to confirm a series of statements (e.g. they don’t have COVID symptoms) prior to entering the test center or testing room. These statements will be provided to test centers on posters.
ACT
Conditions around COVID-19, and the resulting recommendations from public health officials, continue to evolve. We appreciate your continued support during these unpredictable times. ACT and our many test-takers also thank you for your efforts in providing a safe and secure testing location. Starting with the September national ACT® test event, we will no longer enforce additional social distancing guidelines. ACT’s mandatory mask policies, however, are still in effect per the current CDC recommendations.
This updated policy goes into effect with the understanding that conditions can vary greatly between locations in the current testing climate. Remember, ACT recommends working with your local health officials and the CDC to follow rules and guidelines that may be in effect in your jurisdiction. Test center personnel are expected to continue to comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
Changes you will see:- Except where otherwise required by applicable law, rule, or ordinance, ACT’s standard security requirement of a 3' spacing between examinees is in effect, which is consistent with current CDC guidelines.
- The standard proctor ratio of 1:30 is in effect. Please follow your administration instructions to determine appropriate staffing.
- Health screening questions will no longer appear in any test administration instructions to examinees. Rather, ACT messaging in other locations will remind testing staff and examinees to refrain from testing activities if they experience COVID symptoms or follow potential COVID exposure.
- Testing staff is no longer required to post additional COVID-related signage on site.
- Frequent in-day cleaning is no longer required. Per the CDC, in most situations, the risk of infection from touching a surface is low.
ACT understands that certain examinees may express concern about compliance with these testing protocols. Please note, that an examinee refusing to comply with a local regulation may be dismissed.
