The Waxahachie ISD Board of Trustees named Aisha Mason as Principal of Felty Elementary at their regular meeting on June 10, 2025.
Aisha Mason has been in education for nearly a decade. Her career began as an elementary teacher with Fort Worth ISD. During her time there, she served as team lead and master teacher. Under the reconstitution of five leadership schools, Aisha was selected to serve as one of the English Language Arts teachers. Within a year, all campuses met standards and made gains in reading and math. In FWISD, Mason was known for her impact on increasing student achievement, modeling the best instructional practices, building opportunities for positive school culture, and creating a culturally relevant classroom. For the last five years she has served as Assistant Principal at Coleman Junior High School in Waxahachie. During her time at Coleman, she collaborated with stakeholders to implement initiatives and systems which contributed to overall academic growth of the campus. Aisha has also served on various district committees and received additional certifications such as the National Certificate for STEM Teaching (NISE).
Aisha Mason graduated from Baylor University with her Bachelor of Science. She currently holds a Master of Education from Texas Woman’s University and a Principal’s Certification from Lamar University. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. Aisha is married to Gary Mason Jr. who also serves in WISD. They are both proud Baylor Bears and parents of Gianna (GiGi) and Gary Mason, III (Trip). She is honored to be part of the Felty Tribe and looks forward to partnering with the incredible students, staff, and families to continue the commitment to excellence in education.
WISD Superintendent Becky McCutchen said of Mason, “With a strong commitment to student success and a dedication to maintaining high academic standards, Mrs. Mason brings a wealth of experience and
leadership to the role. We are excited to welcome Mrs. Mason into this new position and look forward to
the continued growth and achievements at Felty Elementary School under her guidance.”
Mrs. Mason said, “I am excited to contribute to the vision of Waxahachie ISD in the capacity of campus principal. In this role, I look forward to forming positive, trusting relationships with the students, staff and families to ensure academic achievement and growth for all.”
