Welcome
-
The Simpson Elementary team has developed a personalized and collaborative learning environment where many students will call their elementary school home. Our team will ensure all students feel welcome and loved as they enter our doors in August. We want all students to feel comfortable, confident, and inspired to reach their unlimited potential.
As excited as we are to have the new building, we know teachers and staff are the heartbeats of our school. Our team includes the best and brightest teachers who embody the characteristics we want to be modeled for our students. Some of these traits include: being a servant leader, fostering innovation, communicating effectively, exhibiting integrity, and empowering others. Our teachers and staff join together to make Simpson the best.
We want parents, students, and the community to join us in this journey of making this year memorable and remarkable! How awesome to be a part of something so exciting. We can’t wait to welcome and love each student that enters.

Max H. Simpson Elementary opened its doors in 2020 as a kindergarten through fifth-grade campus. Waxahachie ISD proudly began construction of our ninth elementary campus with the Simpson Elementary groundbreaking ceremony in honor of longtime WISD educator, Max H. Simpson on May 10, 2019. Max Simpson served in education for 51 years with an 18-year tenure on the WISD School Board.
Simpson graduated from Baylor University in 1956 with a bachelor’s degree in history and education; he received a master’s degree in education from Baylor in 1958. Simpson began teaching at Waco ISD in 1958. Simpson and his family moved to Waxahachie ISD in 1970 to serve as an assistant superintendent for the district.
As a district administrator, Simpson played a vital role in Waxahachie ISD’s integration in 1970, when a new high school building was opened and Turner High School and Waxahachie High School were merged. Simpson retired as the assistant superintendent of personnel and instruction in 1991. Simpson served on the WISD Board of Trustees from 2001-2011. During that time, the board was responsible for opening Waxahachie Global High School, an Early College High School, and the passing of two bonds that included the construction of Oliver E. Clift Elementary and Margaret L. Felty Elementary, and Howard Junior High, and a bond for Stuart B. Lumpkins Stadium.
Megan Mills, daughter of Max Simpson, spoke for the family, “We are truly honored by this legacy that WISD has gifted our family. You couldn’t have chosen a more dedicated, funny, honest, hardworking, and giving man than our dad. Generations of children will be part of the legacy of Simpson Elementary, and we are greatly honored by your selection.”
