Karin Polk is excited to serve as the Principal of Marvin Elementary.  Mrs. Polk grew up in El Dorado, Arkansas.  She attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) in Waxahachie, Texas, and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education.  Mrs. Polk has taught 1^st and 3^rd grade in Pasadena ISD and Waxahachie ISD.  She has previously served as the instructional coach for Clift Elementary and Felty Elementary as well as the district’s Elementary Math Curriculum Coordinator.  Most recently, Mrs. Polk served as the assistant principal of Wilemon STEAM Academy and received the National Institute of STEM Education certification.  Mrs. Polk is passionate about students and learning, as well as preparing our students of today to be the leaders of tomorrow.  She is married to her husband, Trenton, and together they have two boys – Noah and Judah.  Mrs. Polk looks forward to an amazing year at Marvin Elementary! 

Yulia Cedeño Alicea was born and raised in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico.  She has a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras campus and a graduate degree in Elementary Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University-Central Texas.  Mrs. Cedeño joins the administrative team while she completes her graduate degree in Educational Leadership with the University of Texas at Tyler. 

Yulia Cedeño Alicea has been in education for over a decade.  She has had many roles in education, including teaching 3rd and 4th-grade bilingual, ESL at the college level, reading interventionist, and Spanish in elementary and high school. 

She also enjoys living in Waxahachie with her husband and daughter.  Mrs. Cedeño enjoys working for Waxahachie ISD and growing the community on many levels.  She is happy about the opportunity for mutual professional and personal growth and development at Marvin Biomedical Academy.
