Membership
-
Membership in the local chapter of the NHS is an honor bestowed upon junior and senior students. Selection for membership by the Faculty Council is based on outstanding character, service, leadership, and scholarship. Once selected, members have the responsibility to continue to demonstrate these qualities.
Members are to attend monthly meetings and are expected to complete 25 hours of community service during their senior year in order to be eligible to wear the NHS stole at graduation. Please see the chapter by-laws and community service guidelines for additional information.
Requirements
-
The WHS Chapter of the NHS strives to give practical meaning to the Society's standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These four ideals are the basis for selection. The National Honor Society strives to recognize the total student that excels in each ideal, not academic merit alone. Members of the junior and senior classes are eligible for election for membership.

- Minimum GPA of 3.0 on the 4-point scale

- Community Involvement and Service
- Adherence to district attendance and discipline policies
- Principal Plan assignments and ISS or alternative school placements within the current school year will be evaluated
Final selection by Faculty Council evaluation with careful consideration for each applicant based on scholarship, service, leadership, and character determines candidacy for membership for the WHS Chapter of the NHS.
