Public Notice

In order to support all students and offer fair and equal opportunities, Waxahachie ISD supports educational services through the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) supplemental grant application.  This application is submitted annually to the Texas Education Agency.  We also provide the opportunity for public comments and suggestions prior to submitting the grant application.  Listed below are the current programs for which we are applying for supplemental funding for the 2022-2023 school year.

The purpose of Title I, Part A [funding] is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency in challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.

The purpose of Title II, Part A is to provide grants to increase student academic achievement through strategies such as improving teacher and principal quality and increasing the number of highly qualified teachers in the classroom and highly qualified principals and assistant principals in schools; and holding local educational agencies and schools accountable for improvements in student academic achievement.

The purpose of Title III, Part A Immigrant of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as reauthorized under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), aims to ensure that English learners (ELs) and immigrant students attain English proficiency and develop high levels of academic achievement in English.  Title III will also assist all English learners to meet the same challenging State academic standards that all children are expected to meet.  These funds are used to pay for supplemental activities that provide enhanced instructional opportunities for immigrant children and youth.

Title IV, Part A, Subpart 1, Student Support and Academic Enrichment grants are designed to improve the academic achievement of all students by increasing the capacity of LEAs, schools, and communities to:

1. 1. Provide all students with access to a well-rounded education,
   2. Improve school conditions for student learning, and
   3. Improve technology in order to enhance academic outcomes and digital literacy.

The purpose of the Migrant Education Program (MEP) is to support the state and local programs that meet the special educational needs of the migratory children of farmworkers (including migratory daily workers and fishermen as identified in the district).  Migrant-funded districts are trained in the areas of concern as identified by the U.S. Office of Migrant Education (OME), which include:

  • Instructional Time
  • School Engagement
  • Educational Support in the Home
  • Health
  • Access to Services

The purpose of Private Non-Profit (PNP) is to provide equitable Title I, Title II, Title III, and Title IV services to private non-profit schools that are compliant with federal and state guidance. Waxahachie ISD is part of the Region 10 PNP Cooperative and they act as a liaison between WISD and private non-profit schools.
