Public Education Information Managment System

      PEIMS

      • TSDS PEIMS logo The Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) is a data collection system for gathering student, staff, financial, and organizational data from school districts and education service centers.  PEIMS information encompasses all data requested and received by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) about public education.

All Texas school districts are required to adopt and maintain a student accounting system, which includes procedures that will ensure the accurate collection, recording, and reporting of all student accounting data.  This data is reported to the Texas Education Agency via the Public Education Information Management System.  State law mandates participation in PEIMS.

The Waxahachie ISD PEIMS team is responsible for submitting all the district data required by the TEA to enable evaluation of our school district and campuses.  The information submitted determines state funding, as well as compliance and accountability in many programs.  Our mission is to maintain a high level of data integrity as vital to support the goals of our students, staff, and district.

        • Standard editing procedures
        • An established database design
        • A production system to format and load data into the TEA enterprise database
        • Written documentation describing the numeric and alphanumeric values stored in the database is published as the Data Documentation

Waxahachie ISD submits data for electronic collection via standardized computer files, as defined by TEDS.

        • budget

TEA manages other collections for evaluation, monitoring, funding, or auditing.  Many are automated, electronic collections.  In compliance with the Texas Education Code, PEIMS contains only the data necessary for the legislature and TEA to perform their legally authorized functions in overseeing public education.
