Public Information Act

Open government is the cornerstone of a free society. Waxahachie ISD, as a local government entity, is subject to the requirements of the Texas Public Information Act. Texas law gives you the right to access government records and government officials may not ask why you want them. All government information is presumed to be available to the public. Certain exceptions may apply to the disclosure of information. Governmental bodies shall promptly release requested information that is not confidential by law or information for which an exception to disclosure has not been sought. Charges will be applied as provided by Board Policy.
Format

All requests must be made in writing and should contain:
- Your name
- Address
- Phone number
- Email or fax number (if applicable)
- Description of the information and/or documents being requested. Include enough detail about the information requested to enable the governmental body to accurately identify and locate the items requested. Please cooperate with the governmental body's reasonable efforts to clarify the type or amount of information requested.
- Subject heading "Public Information Request" or "Open Records Request"
Requests for transcripts and diplomas should be directed to the campus. Requests for student education records for students currently enrolled in the District should be directed to the campus principal. The Director of Public Relations is not able to provide student records. Please direct requests for student records to the student's current or last campus of record.
