Harrison Named Director of CTE & Postsecondary Readiness

The Waxahachie ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously this evening to name veteran WISD administrator Blake Harrison the Director of Career and Technical Education & Postsecondary Readiness.

In this role, Mr. Harrison will oversee all Career and Technical Education programs for the district, as well as ensure that all college, career, and military readiness benchmarks are being achieved by students. Mr. Harrison is currently a part of the administrative team at Waxahachie High School, serving as the assistant principal for CTE programs. Prior to that, Mr. Harrison was an assistant principal at Coleman Junior High, and also served as a teacher and coach at both the junior high and high school levels.

“Mr. Harrison is a dedicated educator and a strong leader,” said Dr. David Averett, Associate Superintendent for Educational Operations. “His experience working directly with the CTE department as an assistant principal, as well as being a product of Waxahachie High School’s CTE programs, make him uniquely suited for this position. We look forward to seeing what he accomplishes in his new role.”

Mr. Harrison holds a bachelor’s degree from Tarleton State University and a master’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. He and his wife, Callie, have two children, Harper and Ford, who are WISD students.
