Daniel Dopson Named Director of Sports Medicine for WISD
The Waxahachie ISD Board of Trustees named Daniel Dopson the Director of Sports Medicine at their board meeting held on Monday, January 13, 2025. Mr. Dopson will be leading the Sports Medicine program, which includes a staff of 5 athletic trainers and 18 students. They support all of our coaches throughout the district and are responsible for the health and safety of the student-athletes of WHS and our three junior highs.
Mr. Dopson’s experience includes Athletic Trainer PRN for Baylor Scott & White Rehab, and an Assistant Athletic Trainer for Desoto ISD. He has been with WISD since 2023 as our Assistant Athletic Trainer.
"Mr. Dopson brings a range of experience to the role of Director of Sports Medicine,” said Acting Superintendent, Dr. David Averett. “Daniel not only has the respect of his peers in the department, but also of the coaches and student athletes he serves. His passion for athletics and for growing our athletic training program is an asset to our entire athletic program in Waxahachie ISD."
Mr. Dopson holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Oklahoma State University, and a Master’s of Athletic Training from Oklahoma State University – Center for Health Sciences. He holds a BOC Exam National Certification and has a Texas Advisory Board of Athletics Trainers License. He is a graduate of Midlothian High School. He and his wife, Sydney have been married for 3 years.
