Accountability Reports

Accountability System

      Overview

      • The Texas Education Agency (TEA) Accountability System assigns ratings to districts and campuses annually.  Schools are measured against similar campuses for academic performance overall and within small subgroups of student types.  To ensure our students are receiving everything they need to succeed, Waxahachie ISD, along with the Texas Education Agency and the U.S. Department of Education, provide the adjacent reports.

The TEA evaluates the performance of schools and districts with an A-C or NR (Not Rated) grade for the school year.

The state accountability system uses a performance domain framework that considers three areas:

        1. Student Achievement evaluates performance across all subjects for all students, on both general and alternate assessments, College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) indicators, and graduation rates.  Student Achievement Domain
        2. School Progress measures district and campus outcomes in two areas: the number of students that grew at least one year academically (or are on track) as measured by STAAR results and the achievement of all students relative to districts or campuses with similar economically disadvantaged percentages.  School Growth Domain
        3. Closing the Gaps uses disaggregated data to demonstrate differentials among racial/ethnic groups, socioeconomic backgrounds, and other factors.  The indicators included in this domain, as well as the domain's construction, align the state accountability system with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Resources

      SRC

      • School Report Cards inform families about a campus’ individual characteristics and its academic performance, including STAAR and Academic Growth outcomes. On the SRC, student attendance and enrollment information, class size information, and financial indicators are provided alongside the campus’s 2023 Overall Academic Accountability Rating, a rating for each accountability domain, and the 2023 Distinction Designations earned by the campus from the 2023 accountability rating year. Each campus must send a copy of the SRC to a parent or guardian of each of its students within six weeks of notification that the SRC has been posted. The campus may provide the SRC in the same way that it sends other official communications to parents and guardians. Districts may distribute the SRC electronically if they can ensure that parents and guardians are notified that the SRC is available and that they have access to it. A campus or district must provide a printed copy to anyone who cannot access the electronic version. The school report card definitions, updated each year, explain several of the terms used in the SRC. The school report card definitions are also available in SpanishVisit the TEA website for additional information, which was shared on August 28, 2025.
